ABOUT THE ENCODED SERIES
The words we choose and the ideas we hold imbue our worlds with immeasurable truths. Yet many of our most consequential messages remain hidden, missed, forgotten, or erased. What if we could see the invisible, make felt the intangible, and celebrate the meaning all around us? Might we find comfort, connection, discernment, or even grace?
The “Encoded” series combines human codes and symbols with organic formations to explore how human, cultural, and natural wisdoms can hide in plain sight.
Verse 43 interprets a passage from Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching from its English translation to Morse code and finally into color, allowing the richness of the text to remain ever-present for those who seek it.
VERSE 43
The most yielding thing in the world
will overcome the most rigid
The most empty thing in the world
will overcome the most full
From this comes a lesson—
Stillness benefits more than action
Silence benefits more than words
Rare indeed are those who are still
Rare indeed are those who are silent
And so I say,
Rare indeed are those
who obtain the bounty of this world.
by Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
